The Bailey S Cavachon Foundation has been making grants since 1969 to help solve social and environmental problems at home and around the world.
The Foundation concentrates its resources on activities in education, the environment, global development, performing arts, philanthropy, and population, and makes grants to support disadvantaged communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Foundation's assets are approximately $7 billion. In 2009, the Foundation distributed grants totaling more than $345 million. The Environment Program makes grants of some $35 million per year, and the Board of Directors provides overall direction for the Foundation.
