This is a strategic and dynamic role, requiring advanced professional, supervisory, and administrative skills to lead the City of Martinsville's financial and auditing functions. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the City's financial operations, including accounting, budget management, payroll, purchasing, investments, debt management, and risk management. As a key advisor to the City Manager, the CFO will drive long-term financial planning, provide insightful analysis on financial performance, develop policies for financial sustainability, and ensure the city meets compliance and reporting standards. This role involves substantial coordination with department directors, external auditors, and other government officials to support strategic financial decisions and achieve the City's fiscal goals. The position reports directly to the City Manager.
Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney (Martinsville, VA)
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for the City of Martinsville is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role as Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. The Deputy reports directly to the Commonwealth's Attorney. Duties include carrying a full case load and prosecuting criminal cases in Circuit Court, General District Court, and Juvenile Domestic Relations Court, supervising attorneys and staff, advising Law Enforcement on legal matters, and representing the Commonwealth on civil matters that are the responsibility of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Applicants must be skilled in legal research and writing.

Permit Technician (Martinsville, VA)
This is a responsible, specialized customer service work of a technical and administrative nature in the Inspections & Code Enforcement Division of the Community Development Department. This position requires considerable initiative, discretion, and judgment to explain and apply city ordinances to a diverse customer base, which includes the public, contractors, architects, engineers, developers, and government employees. The employee assists in the preparation of reports and letters, and other office management responsibilities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Community Development.
Utility Maintenance Worker - Street Maintenance (Asphalt Crew) (Martinsville, VA)
This is skilled labor and trades work performing a variety of construction, repair, and maintenance assignments that require the use of specialized tools and equipment. Work involves the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of equipment used in construction and maintenance repair activities. Work is distinguished by the level of work performed and the combination and variety of skills required. Employees work under the general supervision of the Crew Supervisor and may provide leadership to other employees and/or crew members as assigned.
