City Attorney (Martinsville, VA)

The City Attorney is a contract position appointed directly by the Martinsville City Council and serves as the chief legal advisor to the City. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to the City Council, City Manager, department heads, and various City boards and commissions. The position requires an experienced legal professional with a strong background in municipal law, litigation, and public sector governance. The City Attorney must demonstrate sound legal judgment, integrity, and a proactive approach to managing the City's legal affairs.

Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney (Martinsville, VA)

The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for the City of Martinsville is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role as Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. The Deputy reports directly to the Commonwealth's Attorney. Duties include carrying a full case load and prosecuting criminal cases in Circuit Court, General District Court, and Juvenile Domestic Relations Court, supervising attorneys and staff, advising Law Enforcement on legal matters, and representing the Commonwealth on civil matters that are the responsibility of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Applicants must be skilled in legal research and writing.

Firefighter/EMS (Part-Time) (Martinsville, VA)

The City of Martinsville Fire & EMS Department is testing for part-time positions. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid Virginia driver's license. Must also have a minimum of Virginia Firefighter I, EMT-B, and EVOC Level III. The pay range for Part-Time Firefighters, based on Virginia Firefighter and EMS certifications, is $20.95 - $23.50.

Police Officer (Martinsville, VA)

This is responsible work involving the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work involves responsibility for serving the citizens of Martinsville by protecting life and property, preventing crime, apprehending criminals and enforcing laws and ordinances in a designated area or an assigned shift. More experienced employees in this class may provide technical guidance to newly-hired employees. Work involves an element of personal danger and employees must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergency situations involving a wide range of social, psychological and legal situations including motor vehicle crashes, misdemeanors, felonies and family crisis situations. Assignments, general and special instructions are received from a superior officer who reviews work methods and results through reports, observations and discussions.

Utility Maintenance Worker (Water Resources) (Martinsville, VA)

The City of Martinsville is seeking applicants for the position of Utility Maintenance Worker (Water Resources). This is skilled labor and trade work performing construction, repair, and maintenance of water/sewer facilities.

Utility Maintenance Worker - Street Cleaning (Mowing Crew) (Martinsville, VA)

This is skilled labor and trades work performing a variety of construction, repair, and maintenance assignments that require the use of specialized tools and equipment. Work involves the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of equipment used in construction and maintenance repair activities. Work is distinguished by the level of work performed and the combination and variety of skills required. Employees work under the general supervision of the Crew Supervisor and may provide leadership to other employees and/or crew members as assigned.
