CUSTODIAN PART-TIME (Public Works Shop) (Martinsville, VA)
This is manual work in the care and cleaning of public buildings. Work involves responsibility for the efficient performance of a variety of custodial and minor building maintenance tasks of an arduous nature in and around public buildings (specifically the Public Works shop and corresponding buildings).
Code Compliance Inspector (Martinsville, VA)
Performs highly responsible, skilled, technical, and administrative work within the Community Development/Inspections Department. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing inspections of buildings and properties for compliance with federal and state codes and local ordinances. This position requires certification and demonstrated skills in construction, building codes, related laws, public education, media relations, administrative tasks, and strong customer service skills. This position requires knowledge of the methods of investigation utilized in code compliance inspections.

ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (Martinsville, VA)
Performs responsible skilled electronic and electrical work in the installation, maintenance and
repair of various types of electronic transmitters, receivers, recorders, motors and electrical distribution
components. Work is performed under the supervision of the Water/Wastewater Plant Maintenance
Supervisor.
EMT (Transport Division) (Martinsville, VA)
The City of Martinsville Fire & EMS Department is accepting applications for full-time and/or part-time emergency medical technicians (EMT) and Paramedics to staff an ambulance for its Patient Transport Division. The Patient Transport Division will provide non-emergent ambulance transport for non-ambulatory patients discharged from Sovah Health - Martinsville to locations within the Martinsville and Henry County region.
Applicants must meet the following requirements: (1) possess a high school diploma or equivalent; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) possess a valid Virginia driver's license; (4) have satisfactory employment and background investigation; and (5) currently possess a minimum of Virginia EMT and EVOC certification. Preference is given to applicants with two years or more experience and Paramedic certification.
Based on EMS certification level, full-time starting pay is $37,448 up to $46,690 annually for full time positions.
Part time pay rates: EMT - $18.00/Hour, Enhanced/Advanced - $19.50/Hour, Paramedic - $21.00/Hour.
Pre-employment physical and drug test are required for selected applicants. In addition, interview information will be provided to selected applicants.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SPECIALIST (Martinsville, VA)
This is advanced and skilled professional field and office civil engineering work. Work involves organizing and maintaining the City's overall topographic base maps and GIS system; preparing plans and exhibits using computer software; developing and maintaining shared databases of maps, images, and ortho-photos for access through the City's web site; developing and maintaining financial control systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; and supervising all phases of mapping projects and GIS activities. Work also involves the application of paraprofessional engineering knowledge gained through training or experience in a variety of engineering and planning problems in the field or office. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Director who makes general assignments and inspects work to ensure accuracy and conformity with accepted engineering principles.
This is professional, administrative, and highly skilled technical work within the Department of Community Development. Work includes the coordination and management of various development, redevelopment, and special project activities. Three focus areas of the position include: urban planning, economic development, and housing/neighborhood revitalization. The work consists of the direction, coordination, and management of professional planning functions including comprehensive planning, neighborhood planning, project management, code enforcement/coordination, site development and design, business and industrial marketing, strategic planning, and basic master planning.
Police Officer (Martinsville, VA)
The City of Martinsville, VA, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer. For certified applicants, possess a current Virginia law enforcement certification or have relinquished certification within two years preceding date of hire. Must have completed one consecutive year of sworn service upon completion of a field training program. Must have left former agency in good standing to be considered. For all applicants high school diploma or GED; must be a US citizen; successful applicants must pass a physical agility test, possess or be eligible for a Virginia driver's license with no more than six demerit points in the past twelve months and no DUI conviction within the past five years; binocular vision of 20/25 corrected; weight in proportion to height; no conviction of felonies and/or habitual misdemeanors; no conviction of, or guilty plea or no contest pleas to: misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, including petit larceny; any misdemeanor sex offense; or any domestic assault; pass an extensive background investigation which includes a polygraph, psychological, medical and drug screening.
Real Estate and State Income Tax Clerk (Martinsville, VA)
Performs complex clerical and technical work in connection with processing real estate transfers and annual real estate assessments. Work includes assisting the public with information on real estate assessments, and other general questions; processing credits for the real estate tax relief programs; and providing assistance with state income tax filing.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACCOUNTS MANAGER (Martinsville, VA)
This position is responsible for providing superior technical assistance and customer service to MiNet Solutions Telecom customers. This position will participate in resolving and tracking customer issues; responsible for communicating with the Plant Manager to ensure proper and timely responses; assist in providing contracts to new customers and reviewing existing contracts to better serve the MINet customer base. In addition, this position will assist in researching new and innovative technologies that will better enhance MINet Solutions' Technologies.

WATER PLANT OPERATOR/TRAINEE (Water Works Class License Preferred) (Martinsville, VA)
This is skilled work in the operation of water treatment equipment in a water plant on an assigned shift. Work involves responsibility for the operation of water pumping and related equipment, and for making adjustments to equipment as required. Work also includes inspection and operation of electrical control boards, motors, pumps, meters and related equipment. Work is performed with some latitude for independent judgment and action, and is reviewed by superiors through reports, inspections and resulting observations.
