Pay Range:  $19 - $25 per hour base pay.  

JOB SUMMARY


Under general supervision, utilizes electric/pneumatic tools to drill, buff, sand, deburr and polish parts according to specifications/router.  Chooses the correct abrasive materials and tool for the task.  Installs hardware such as bushings and assembles parts by pinning, screwing, etc.  May check parts to ensure specifications such as tolerance, torque, etc. are met.  Cleans parts. This position is subject to ITAR requirements which require incumbents to be a U.S. Person (Citizen, lawful permanent resident, a protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3))

PRIMARY DUTIES
Include the following but other duties may be assigned. *
  • Chooses the correct abrasive based on router or part material.
  • Uses a variety of electric or pneumatic power tools to buff, sand, deburr or polish parts of various materials such as steel, copper, or alloys.
  • May hand drill/tap parts.
  • Installs hardware, bushings, pins, etc. according to router instructions.
  • Cleans parts with various chemicals.
  • Ensures correct specification/measurements when necessary.
  • May perform standard tests (such as pressure tests) as necessary or required.
  • Use forklift to move parts when required.
  • Uses crane system to move/ flip parts when required.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follows all safety rules and requirements.
  • Maintains a proactive approach to safety by promptly reporting issues and near misses as well as participating in accident investigations as necessary.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries.
  • Inspects all gear/equipment prior to use to ensure it is in safe working order.
  • Participates in safety training and initiatives. Follows all company policies and safety guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not oversee any personnel.

SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
    • 6-12 months minimum experience deburring parts in an aerospace/ machine shop environment. Some assembly experience preferred.
    • Ability to read routers, specifications, basic blueprints and instructions as needed.
    • Knowledge of calipers, and other hand precision measuring devices.
    • Good problem solving skills.
    • Prior experience with operating forklifts is desired, with at least 6 months of experience.
    • Ability to prioritize/re-prioritize tasks and workload to meet deadlines and changing requirements.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented

EDUCATION
Minimum of a High School Diploma/ GED or a combination of work experience and education will be considered.

  • Ability to walk or move to regularly move about the facility.
  • Ability to see or detect, identify, recognize or Assess surroundings while in the facility areas
  • Must be able to pass a Vision Acuity test to test vision.
  • Ability to bend, turn and stoop continuously.  
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, at times the bulk of the shift (8-10 hours)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand power tools for the bulk of the shift
  • Ability to operate a forklift (includes ability to climb onto and off of the equipment)
  • Ability to use/ operate crane system to move/ rotate/ flip parts.
  • Ability to use/ wear safety protective PPE (i.e. safety shoes, safety goggles, hearing protection)
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 100% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in a manufacturing environment. When working in the facility it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) safety slip/ oil resistant shoes and safety glasses. Shop floor environment includes exposure to working machinery, noise (under 80db), fumes, mist, oil, grease, dirt and hazardous chemicals.
