This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems to ensure continuous production and minimal downtime. This is a hands-on industrial maintenance role working with automated production lines, extrusion equipment, and electrical control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair production equipment such as:
- Extrusion lines
- Conveyors and rollers
- Motors, pumps, and gearboxes
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions
- Install and align new equipment and components
Electrical Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including:
- Control panels
- Sensors and instrumentation
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Assist with PLC troubleshooting and system monitoring
- Repair and install electrical components and wiring
Production Support Duties:
- Observe equipment performance and identify inefficiencies
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Work closely with operators, engineers, and supervisors
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow OSHA and plant safety standards at all times
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Ensure equipment meets operational and environmental standards
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
- 2+ years industrial maintenance experience (mechanical + electrical)
- Experience in manufacturing (preferred: fiber optics, plastics, or extrusion)
- Basic PLC knowledge (Allen-Bradley or similar preferred)
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical & electrical systems
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Preventative maintenance mindset
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand, bend, climb, and work around machinery
- Work in a manufacturing environment with noise and heat
