Communications Intern (Catholic Community Foundation)
Status: Paid Internship
Schedule: 15-20 hrs per week
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana

The Catholic Community Foundation of Northeast Indiana and the University of Saint Francis are pursuing a mutual partnership to offer an internship opportunity to a USF student. The selected intern will assist Catholic Community Foundation staff with administrative tasks in communications and donor engagement. Responsibilities include writing marketing content for the Foundation, posting on social media, updating the website, and assisting with donor engagement and communication, among other tasks.

Internship Overview:
  • Year-round, long-term (12 to 24 months preferred)
  • Part-time (15-20 hours per week) during the academic year, with the opportunity to increase hours over the summer (potentially full-time in summer)
  • Paid
  • Combination of in-person/on-site work at the Foundation during office hours and remote work (after training) as schedule necessitates
  • Start date immediately, or as soon as possible
  • University credit may be applicable (Students seeking college credit for the internship should consult their academic advisor, the university catalog, and, if needed, the office of Student Financial Services, then complete the Internship, Apprenticeship and Practicum Registration form (on mySF), which includes designating a faculty internship supervisor who will serve as the liaison between the University and the Catholic Community Foundation.)

Your deliverables:

  • Understand and be committed to the Foundation’s mission and Catholic identity.
  • Demonstrate honesty and loyalty to the Foundation and its stakeholders.

  • Help create content for digital and print materials.
  • Support website and social media updates.
  • Assist with donor database projects, special initiatives, and donor engagement activities.

Your skills and qualifications:
  • Reliable, professional, and eager to learn.
  • Possess clear, concise, and professional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic) for engagement with internal and external audiences.
  • Capable of effectively working with online tools, specific software, and platforms.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and WordPress or Squarespace.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools such as MailChimp or Constant Contact.
  • Basic design acumen and understanding visual aesthetics and layout.
  • Capable of conducting research on trends, competition, and target audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills to coordinate projects and meet deadlines.
  • Possess sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate creativity and flexibility.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Junior or Senior status in the 2025-2026 academic year preferred; Sophomores considered.
  • Earned credit for college coursework of at least 12 credit hours in one of the following areas of study: English, Theology, Communication (public relations), Marketing, or Graphic Design; other disciplines considered.
  • Knowledge of the work of philanthropic organizations is desired but not required.
  • Students proficient with Adobe Creative suite are encouraged to apply.

Work environment:
  • This role is based in a standard office environment with remote work possibility.
  • Work is primarily sedentary, involving sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • Office equipment includes a computer, telephone, and printer.
  • Light lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required for tasks such as organizing files, setting up meeting rooms, or handling office supplies.
