Responsibilities
- Produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies
- Read and decipher schematics, blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions
- Position or align components and parts, either manually or with hoists
- Use hand tools, power tools, or machines to assemble parts
- Insulate containers and cabinets
- Conduct quality control checks
- Comply with and assist with the development of safety protocols
- Clean and maintain work areas and equipment including tools
- Prepare work to be accomplished by studying part lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
- Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
- Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies
- Verify specifications by measuring completed components
- Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources
- Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing, and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and skills
- 3 years of experience as an electrical/mechanical assembler
- Exceptional understanding and ability to interpret technical documents such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints or other instructions
- Solid understanding of all operating procedures
- Able to use multimeter
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.)
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety rules
- Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessary
