EDGE is seeking qualified individuals to join our team of species experts who specialize in addressing potential impacts to protected species including freshwater mussels, fish, crayfish, mammals (bats), birds, reptiles, amphibians, rare plants, and insects for our clients in the Energy, Transportation, Chemical, and Manufacturing industries.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, dynamic environmental consulting firm. The position would be based in one of our offices or remote for the right candidate. As a Biologist/Ecologist your primary focus will be on addressing Endangered Species Act (ESA) issues for clients, including all phases of the design and implementation of protected species surveys consistent with federal and state requirements, including project management, client management, proposal preparation, budgetary management, agency consultation, data collection, data management, and report preparation in support of projects throughout the eastern United States. There will also be opportunities for career growth through informal coaching and formal professional development, which could include attendance at conferences sponsored by industry, federal and state agencies, and scientific groups.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage projects and field programs.
- Prepare technical proposals and budgetary estimates
- Design and execute field programs to meet client safety requirements and agency protocols
- Assist in facilitating meetings/consultation with Federal and State agencies
- Prepare technically detailed environmental reports and documentation
- Engage clients through participation in presentations
Minimum Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in Biological Science, Environmental Science, Fisheries, Natural Resource, or related degree
- 5 to 10 years of consulting experience
- Knowledge of Endangered Species Act
- Significant experience with federally- and/or state-listed protected species
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, ability to work within a diverse team
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to travel during survey season
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Biological Science, Environmental Science, Fisheries, Natural Resources, or related degree
- Federal or State Scientific Collection Permit
- SCUBA certification (aquatic professionals)
- Boat operator certification (aquatic professionals)
- Telemetry experience (terrestrial professionals)
- Qualified Surveyor List (aquatic & terrestrial professionals)
