Salary: The expected salary for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 annually. The actual pay rate offered may vary on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience, knowledge, skills and/or location. 


POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager at AES will manage the accounting functions. Responsibilities include hands-on month-end financial close, preparation of financial statements, and providing insightful analysis for decision-making. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will manage a team of accounting professionals, ensuring efficient workflow, and fostering a collaborative environment. In this role, the Accounting Manager will work closely with senior management, sales administration, and external tax advisors to ensure timely reporting and tax compliance. This role demands a solid accounting foundation, proficiency in extracting and analyzing data from various sources, acute attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines. The role collaborates with the leadership team in AES and reports directly to the AES CFO. This position will be an onsite role in the Des Plaines, IL area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned and are not limited to the following)
  • Execute and participate in the monthly financial close process. Preparation of monthly financial reporting, including Profit & Loss (P&L) and balance sheet analysis, focusing on sales, margins, and indirect costs to provide insights into business performance.
  • Develop comprehensive analysis to support the creation of accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial statements to the corporate consolidation system adhering to both internal and external accounting standards.
  • Perform and review detailed account reconciliations to maintain integrity and accuracy of financial data.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasts, analyzing historical data and projecting future performance to CFO & FP&A in budget and forecast preparation.
  • Insure respect of processes, procedures, and ethical standards of the Group
  • Supervise payment and collection processes.
  • Function as a key user and expert in the ERP system, including modules such as Kyriba, SunSystems, and our Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) EAM facilitating effective use and troubleshooting issues.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and ensure that all financial processes related to inventory control align with Group rules and best practices including supervision of stock take.
  • Prepare and report various regulatory or contractual declarations (sales tax, airport fees etc.)
  • Liaise with external tax advisor & sister companies for corporate tax requirements.
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting semi-annual financial audits by ensuring compliance with audit requirements, consulting with auditors, and providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  • Supervise a team of accounting professionals and AR/AP Specialists. Provide mentorship and ensure the team's alignment with financial objectives and company goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leadership and teams across the US to enhance workflow efficiencies, ensure compliance with accounting standards and promote best practices.
  • Serve as a financial liaison to department heads, providing critical financial insights and supporting cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new accounting regulations and best practices to ensure AES remains at the forefront of financial management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar supervisory position with 5 + years in an individual contributor accountant role preferably in an industrial division within the business-to-business sector.
  • Experience with ERP systems such SAP, NetSuite, SAGE, Infor products.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong analytical abilities and interpersonal acumen.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple challenging tasks within agreed time limits with critical thinking and quality.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Some travel may be required.
