Job purpose

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for working alongside the Site Superintendent and Construction Crews and ensuring that all work on site is carried out as per project requirements, completed safety, and meets quality expectations. This position is local to Grand Cache and area.

Duties and responsibilities
In addition to working as a Lead Carpenter on the construction project, the Lead supports for the assigned project:
  • Coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans
  • Adhering to schedules and monitor attendance of crew
  • Support with allocating general and daily responsibilities
  • Must understand and adhere to safety policies, procedures and values and ensure team is in compliance
  • Provide timely project reports and updates to management
  • Support resolution of project issues as they arise
  • Mentor trades workers to ensure compliance with best practices and procedures.
  • Ensure that work is carried out with high quality standards
  • Ensure that all Company policies, procedures and practices are maintained
  • Ensure that shift documentation is kept up- to- date and communicated in a timely manner
  • Assist with any investigation of incidents or near misses as required
  • Ensuring that crew members are performing duties as required
  • Maintain positive working relationships with client, team, and other contractors

Qualifications
  • Journey Certified Carpenter Ticket (Optional) Experienced Carpenter
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and safety program.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid safety certificates are considered an asset along with a valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

This position requires significant time spent on-work sites in various locations, often in outdoor and variable weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Applicant should be able to work long hours and weekends as required, and
 
  • Ability to regular handle and lift 50lbs, as required
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform rigorous activities during working hours
  • Ability to pass a pre-access Drug & Alcohol test, if Client required
  • Ability to navigate and operate safely in a construction site environment, which may include heights, confined space, and uneven surfaces.
