Summary
Aircraft tooling manufacturer Industrial Automation Inc is hiring an industrial painter and metal finisher. Applicants should have at least two years of experience in aerospace or a related industrial role prepping and finishing top-quality parts, and should enjoy non-repetitive work. Must be able to read and interpret drawings for paint specifications, masking instructions, finish requirements, etc. When not prepping parts, the Painter is expected to assist other departments as needed.
Position Overview
The Painter works closely with the Production Coordinator, QA, Fab, and Assembly to ensure parts are painted in accordance with drawing requirements and production needs. They will also prepare parts for external processing such as anodizing and plating. Finally, the painter ensures compliance with regulations governing storage, use, and disposal of hazardous material and maintains a clean and properly stocked workspace.

Essential Job Functions
- Verify that all parts are accounted for and correctly identified per the planning and the drawing prior to paint.
- Inspect parts and welds to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinate with Assembly to ensure part marking such as steel stamp is complete prior to paint.
- Ensure parts to be painted are clean and free of debris and that any sharp edges and weld spatter have been removed.
- Keep paperwork organized and safe.
- Ensure an adequate inventory of all paint and related shop supplies for at least the next three weeks of work, altering the production assistant promptly when additional supplies are needed.
- Maintain a clean work area and keep all equipment and facilities in good working order, including but not limited to the following:
- Clean and properly maintain paint gun during day-to-day use.
- Sweep and dust booth as needed.
- Keep paint supplies in flammables cabinets or otherwise in compliance with pertinent regulations. Keep all containers closed except during use.
- Change intake and exhaust filters as needed to maintain adequate airflow.
- Maintain a log of hazardous waste generated. Ensure all waste is stored appropriately and comply with all pertinent regulations.
- During downtime in paint, assist in deburring, sanding, blending, sandblasting and prepping parts for other finish requirements.
- Work with Assembly and Quality Assurance to assure a defect free product is being produced.
- Follow “Paint Instructions” (P-1007) and “Paint Best Shop Practices” (P-1027) at all times.
Requirements
- Ability to interpret drawings and read/comprehend work instructions.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
- Experience using hand tools and handheld power tools.
- Steel or composite toe shoes complying with current revision of ASTM F-2413.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Two years of painting experience in a manufacturing environment, including part preparation.
- High School graduation or GED required.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Respect and commitment to the job and for coworkers.
- Problem solving abilities.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:30AM to 2:00PM
Compensation: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Experience:
- Aerospace Industrial Painting: 2 years (Required)
