Job Summary:
The Dietitian Nutritionist(RDN/LDN) will be responsible for providing comprehensive nutritional services to adolescent clients in a residential treatment setting. This role includes conducting individual nutritional consultations, leading nutrition-focused educational groups, collaborating with medical and clinical teams, and communicating with parents/guardians regarding dietary needs and progress. The RD will work with clients experiencing eating disorders and other mental health conditions, ensuring that dietary interventions support their overall treatment plan.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Nutritional Assessment & Consultation: Conduct thorough nutritional assessments for each resident, developing individualized nutrition plans tailored to their medical and mental health needs.
  • Educational Groups: Lead structured nutrition education sessions for adolescents, covering topics such as balanced eating, mindful eating, body image, and healthy food relationships.
  • Collaboration & Care Coordination: Work closely with the medical and clinical teams to integrate nutrition care into the overall treatment plan. Attend case conferences and contribute to multidisciplinary treatment discussions as needed.
  • Parental Communication: Provide education and support to parents/guardians regarding their child’s nutritional needs, progress, and strategies for maintaining healthy eating habits post-treatment.
  • Crisis Intervention: Offer guidance in cases of nutritional crises, such as severe restriction, purging behaviors, or significant weight fluctuations, working with the medical team to adjust dietary interventions as needed.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, meal plans, and progress notes. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in nutrition and eating disorder care.
  • Professional Development: Stay current on best practices in eating disorder treatment, adolescent nutrition, and mental health nutrition by attending continuing education and training sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Registered and State Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN & LDN) credential required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with eating disorders, adolescent nutrition, or mental health populations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy for eating disorders and related mental health conditions.
  • Experience leading group education sessions and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with adolescents and their families in a supportive and educational manner.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented residential treatment environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a residential or inpatient treatment setting.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and behavioral health nutrition.
