Responsibilities
- Maintain thorough and current knowledge of all Human Resources/employee regulations and laws, and ensure that the property is in compliance.
- Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings. Implement policies and programs to guarantee Safety compliance.
- Communicate new policies, information, and directives to all employees.
- Instruct staff in interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure staffs compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee benefits programs.
- Recommend and/or approve all employee transitions, i.e. new hire, transfer, promotion, etc.
- Maintain open door policy.
- Conduct training classes.
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in and monitor safety committee in compliance with Loss Prevention SOP’s.
- Ensure compliance with all HR related Loss Prevention SOP’s.
- Establish and maintain safety incentive program.
- Become a certified trainer in all current HR training modules.
- Maintain Monthly Employee of the month (Employee of Month/Year) program, and monthly employee engagement.
- Practice positive employee relations, including coaching, counseling & discipline.
- Develop and maintain “no cost” benefit programs.
- Participate in and monitor orientation programs.
- Assists associates whenever possible with requests and/or information.
- Understands the hotel product and brand identity.
- Meets and exceeds customers’ and co-workers’ expectations by providing excellent service and teamwork.
- Keeps supervisor fully informed of all problems or matter of significance.
- Completes work projects as assigned by supervisor and management.
- Achieve a high workforce productivity with high customer service satisfaction.
- Attempts to answer and satisfy the associate with his/her concern so that he/she does not have to wait or make an appointment with Human Resource Director.
- Creates or updates Human Resource bulletin boards and other posting locations as needed.
- Assists with employee relations events and recognition, as needed, e.g. Anniversary Awards program, hotel brand required meetings, etc.
- Explains elements of various benefits to associates as required. Assists with distribution of enrollment forms of benefits such as: medical, dental, vision, Life and Disability insurance, Flexible Spending accounts, 401k and Paid Time Off.
- Assists with filing and monitoring Worker Compensation claims and alert all relevant parties of any associate’s modified work duties.
- Coordinates the preparation of employee orientation, training sessions, and employee morale programs or events.
- Meets with new employees to review new hire paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Manages employee records, files and database with accuracy.
- Tracks all required employee certifications such as CA Food Handlers Certification and maintenance licenses.
- Assists with the creation of training manuals, HR manual and employee handbook.
- Assists in recruitment by managing job postings, scheduling interviews and evaluating candidates.
- Assists with creation, distribution and collection of feedback from company-wide annual survey.
- Assists with providing research for policies, training, strategic planning, and other human resource issues.
- Assists in preparation of special events and other office or company gatherings.
- Assists with providing compliance in all areas of human resources.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Adheres to location appearance guidelines
- Acts with a sense of urgency.
- Ensure managers are using coaching, counseling and discipline to address issues/concerns.
- Condense and expedite paperwork, develop internal communications, improve record keeping.
- Develop and maintain suggestion box program.
- Plan and edit employee newsletter.
- Manage all personnel files.
- Manage resume and application files.
- Ability to follow up and ensure completion of unresolved tasks.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
- Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to quickly problem solve and make sensible decisions.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.

- Must possess excellent attention to detail, a high level or organization, and the ability to multi-task, follow through and re-prioritize well to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
- Maintains regular attendance, is consistently on time and complies with all Luxe Hotel standards.
- Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.
- At least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience.
- Previous supervisory responsibility required.
- College course work in related field helpful
- Familiarity with and knowledge of employment laws required.
- Long hours sometimes required.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Luxe Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
