Job Title: CDL A- Driver
Reports to: Project Manager
Compensation: $20-$35

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves handling and delivering utility poles throughout Auburn, Maine and surrounding areas. Potential need to cross the border into Canada, although driver can apply for enhanced license after hire and be reimbursed by the company. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Haul utility poles to and from job sites in compliance with all DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  2. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues, performing preventative maintenance.
  3. Interact with dispatchers to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
  4. Engage with customers and contractors.
  5. Abide by electronic logging device regulations.
  6. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods, etc.), as well as company policies and procedures.
  7. During emergencies or storms, be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
  8. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  9. Collect and verify delivery instructions.
  10. Report defects, accidents, or violations.
  11. Accomplish all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to drive CMV with a manual transmission is required.
  • Valid and Clean Maine CDL, Class A.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a current DOT physical.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant driving experience.
  • No lifting or physical restrictions.
  • Solid knowledge of DOT regulations and load securement requirements.
  • Effective and respectful communication with the public and clients.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper use and maintenance of all company tools and equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
  • Stamina to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise tasks.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Good vision, including close-up and peripheral vision, for detailed inspections.
  • Hearing ability to diagnose engine and equipment noises.
