Heavy Duty Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY:    Heavy Duty Mechanics at Livingston Associates carry out routine maintenance on the vehicles and heavy construction equipment of our clients following industry established guidelines.

REPORTS TO:        Director of Fleet Services

COMPENSATION: $26-$32


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Engine, hydraulic, differential, axle, transaxle, gearbox and transmission fluid changes, greasing bearings, pins and bushings, checking windshields, tires and engine coolant.
  • Track service records of client’s vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform annual coolant freeze point checks.
  • Perform routine checks including exhaust systems, air filters, chassis components, brake systems, tire pressures, wheel bearings, fluid levels, ignitions, HVAC systems.
  • Provide records of all work performed to Director of Fleet Services
  • Full time, year round position with overtime

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License in good standing required.  Commercial Driver’s License a plus
  • Minimum 2 years experience or schooling through BOCES or similar educational certifications. 
  • NYS Inspector License a plus

  • Must be able to take initiative to solve problems within established guidelines
  • Must be flexible in changes to schedule, average of 55 - hour work week
  • Must be qualified to operate a company vehicle
  • Must have own tools
  • Knowledge of the Rochester area a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a wide variety of worksite and climate conditions, including constant exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and smoke.

The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
