Senior Heavy Truck Mechanic
Pay Rate: $30-40/hr. depending on experience.
This is a Senior level position that will require a minimum of 8 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks, agricultural and construction equipment.
Overview: The Heavy Truck Mechanic will be responsible for performing various maintenance and repair tasks on heavy-duty trucks, agricultural and construction equipment ensuring their safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of diagnosing, engine rebuild and troubleshooting experience, experience with software to diagnose electrical systems.

Overview: The Heavy Truck Mechanic will be responsible for performing various maintenance and repair tasks on heavy-duty trucks, agricultural and construction equipment ensuring their safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of diagnosing, engine rebuild and troubleshooting experience, experience with software to diagnose electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnostics of engines of horsepower over 150, repair, engine rebuild experience with (short and long block)
- Electrical troubleshooting using software programs/diagnostic equipment
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, diagnostic pressures, schematics, including pumps, hoses, and cylinders on heavy trucks and equipment
- Diagnose repair and maintain Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems and electrical components, including wiring, lighting, and batteries
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify truck components, ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the vehicle
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections to ensure the optimal performance of heavy trucks
- Experience with compliance with New York State (NYS) inspection requirements by possessing and utilizing a valid NYS Inspector's License (optional)
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Heavy Truck Mechanic, with a focus on engine diagnostics rebuild with electrical diagnostic experience, hydraulics, diagnosing, troubleshooting, DEF/Electrical systems.
- Experience with over the road trucks, trailers, refuse truck
- Must have your own tools
- Experience with construction equipment/excavators/haul trucks/bulldozers
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy truck components.
- Familiarity with DEF systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Strong welding and fabrication skills.
- Valid New York State Inspector's License is (preferred).
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Stamina to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise tasks.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
- Good vision, including close-up and peripheral vision, for detailed inspections.
- Hearing ability to diagnose engine and equipment noises.
