Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic Region Job Summary:
Responsible for both business development and operational oversight across Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. This hybrid role combines driving new business opportunities, managing key client relationships, and ensuring successful project execution. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both sales and operations within the mechanical construction industry, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet both growth and operational goals.

Essential Functions:

Business Development:
  • Strategic Growth: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to expand the company’s presence in multiple states, focusing on both new business opportunities and sustaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within key market sectors ensuring alignment with the company's long-term goals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with general contractors, developers, and other key stakeholders to secure new projects and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Leadership: Oversee the entire sales process, from identifying potential projects, preparing proposals, and managing the bidding process to final contract negotiation and award.
  • Networking & Representation: Act as the company’s ambassador at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance brand recognition and position the company as a leader in mechanical construction.

Operations Management:
  • Project Oversight: Lead and oversee the operational execution of mechanical construction projects in multiple states, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and field teams to coordinate resources and resolve any operational challenges during project execution.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Ensure that all operational activities are aligned with financial targets and cost control measures, including oversight of project budgets and resource allocation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards on construction sites. Work with safety officers to monitor and mitigate risks.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement best practices to enhance project delivery, team productivity, and cost control across multiple locations.
  • Resource Management: Manage staffing, scheduling, and procurement of resources required to support business development efforts and ongoing projects.

Education, Experience, technical skills & attributes required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in business development and operations within the mechanical construction industry or a closely related field. Proven experience managing both business development and operational functions.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction operations, and project management. Experience managing multi-state operations, in particular the Delaware/Maryland/Virginia territory is a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience in both sales and operational management. Ability to drive performance across multiple teams.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to meet clients, oversee projects, and support business development activities in various regions.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in construction project management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Position is full-time Monday – Friday and is a remote work position.
