THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently advance capital and secondary development waste at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Miner 2 must be able to perform all mining tasks: drilling, blasting, bolting, scaling, mucking, map reading, drift online and grade, and advance utilities.


Rates start at $33.75

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Marking the face with the appropriate drill pattern
  • Drilling holes parallel and on correct angles
  • Cleaning, scratching, and marking holes
  • Shovel lifters when the heading is complete
  • Comply with MSHA & ATF explosives regulations and requirements
  • Proper handling and loading of explosives
  • Minimizing explosive waste
  • Detonation of explosives (licensed blasters)
  • Accurately complete blast report as per regulations
  • Hand scaling
  • Ensures all hoses and other auxiliary services are neatly stored
  • Maintains hauling efficiency by managing working environment conditions
  • Maintains proper housekeeping and tidiness
  • Follows correct loading and dumping procedures
  • Inspects and assesses site conditions to determine scaling and bolting requirements
  • Erects barricades to prevent unauthorized access if necessary
  • Wetting down headings for dust suppression
  • Ensures services (air, water) are advanced
  • Installs appropriate bolts and screen to specified pattern and spacing
  • Step-Up Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform Supervisor duties
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of underground hard rock mining
  • Rapid development experience desired
  • Experience in mine specific equipment
  • Excels in Jumbo and ground support activities
  • Sound understanding of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
  • Blasting License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
