THE ROLE: The purpose of this role is to provide Electrical support to the operations by repairing and maintaining mine equipment. This includes everything from office light switches to the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical machinery used underground. Electricians install, test, repair, maintain and inspect all the electrical systems and equipment, all the while complying with federal and state mine safety regulations and standards.

- Promote awareness and comply with site standards and procedures in SHEC
- Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site, and company standards.
- Promote awareness by reporting and managing all potential hazards.
- Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
- Ensure correct use of safety signs and barricades
- Work to establish safe work procedures
- Wear proper PPE at all times
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Appropriate trade or related qualification in maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment or a related discipline
- 2-3 years experience in industrial electricity , within a mining, construction, or industrial plant environment
- Troubleshoot and repair backup generator systems
- Make medium voltage splice- high voltage terms/splices (4160 & 2300 VAC)
- Proficient in switch and transformer installations – basic 3 wire connections
- Troubleshoot and repair medium voltage system
- Troubleshoot and repair drill rigs and 1000v underground system
- Demonstrate knowledge of underground power distribution system
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Mines Regulations
- Must be able to read, understand and troubleshoot schematics
