The role:  The purpose of this role is to coordinate talent management, leadership and employee development training efforts for East Tennessee Mines. This individual will coordinate with site Mine Trainers to ensure all training is properly recorded and maintained. This individual will partner with leadership team to focus on solutions to build necessary skills and competencies to allow East Tennessee Mines to reach its full potential.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with statutory / legislative and Corporate requirements
  • Conduct Competency based training, and maintain related records for employees related to asset, maintenance, and utility work.
  • Consult with the Managers and Supervisors to assess training needs and develop programs to match these needs
  • Identify training and development requirements by conducting needs analysis on site results, job requirements, operational problems, business plan, and existing training programs
  • Develop and implement training programs and workflows for Mine, Mill, Maintenance and Support function employees
  • Develop methods and tools to measure development and training initiative impact and effectiveness across the site
  • Facilitate implementation of training programs to ensure success of the business plan
  • Coordinate training schedules, monitor and record training activities
  • Facilitate site wide training sessions as required
  • Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound behavior at all times
  • Must have competencies schematics, ladder diagrams, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, demonstrating training techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems, safety principles, and a familiarity with predictive maintenance.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, maintenance, and integration of comprehensive technician training program.
  • Develop the course material to implement a successful apprentice technician training program.
  • Develop and update training courses as needed.
  • Provide classroom and formal on the job training to technicians.
  • Instruct and directly oversee day to day training of apprentice technicians.
  • Work to enhance a Preventive Maintenance Inspection, (PMI) program, Work Request Program, Inventory Control Program, and Safety Program to achieve timely, safe, and cost-effective repairs on Nyrstar fleet by Nyrstar procedures, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory agencies.
     
    • Identify hazards and safety risk assessments and develop training to reduce risks.
    • Ensure effectiveness of safety risk controls and promote safety measures.
    • Develop and maintain records of continued education training for all levels of technicians.
    • Work with vendors to implement training offered for specific vehicles/machines or fixed plant.
    • Update all training materials as necessary with new models, procedures, or standards.
    • Formulates, edits, and initiates maintenance procedures to ensure all necessary information is available to maintenance personnel and that they receive continued periodic and pertinent training.
    • Check for quality assurance of fleet or fixed plant serviced and follow up with technicians.
    • Maintain proficient understanding of risk management issues and communication of appropriate information to other Nyrstar management staff for implementation.
    • Coordinates training and safe operation training of mechanical, transportation, slope maintenance, heavy equipment, and departmental equipment to ensure Nyrstar’s employees are knowledgeable and safe in the use of Nyrstar fleet or fixed plant. Research and establish innovative training methods. Organize training classes to maximize investment in our employees

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential:
    10 years or experience in training or organizational development related to asset, maintenance, and utility work.
    Proficiency in asset, maintenance, and utility processes and procedures.

    REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, & ABILITIES

    Essential:
    • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office Software and
    • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
    • Leadership skills and drive to achieve result

    Desirable:
    SAP IT systems knowledge
