THE ROLE
The Geology Intern reports to the Chief Geologist and the primary role is to assist the Mine Technical Services team with operational and geology requirements. This roles is for students finishing their 2nd or 3rd year of studies in a Geology program and is designed to give them exposure to the Underground environment as well as engineering tasks.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety, Health, Environment and Community
- Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
- Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed CHESS goals in support of the department, site and company standards
- Participate in daily crew safety meetings
- Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
- Manage logistics and expertly handle drill core samples
- Operate specialized equipment, including core/rock saw and forklift
- Prepare samples with precision and attention to detail
- Perform on-site data entry to support critical operations
- Liaise with other members of the operational and technical team.
- Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Currently Enrolled in a Geology program in either your 2nd or 3rd year.
- Current Driver's License.
- Computer literacy Microsoft Office (extensive excel skills is a requirement).
- Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all tasks.
- Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
