SUMMARY OF POSITION
Working independently, under the supervision of the Head of Exhibition Lighting and/or other management, and as a member of the Exhibition Lighting team, the On-Call lighting technician supports the art-focused lighting design in the galleries and in the museum areas open to the public. The Lighting Technician is responsible for the safe handling and movement of museum lighting equipment and inventory and may work in non-exhibition areas helping to execute lighting for Retail, the Café and for Special Events.

SALARY RANGE: $34.10 - $40.91 per hour

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in theatrical, event or exhibition lighting required.
- Knowledge of basic electrical practice required.
- Knowledge of standard lighting materials, methods and practices.
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prep and focus lighting instruments for exhibitions
- Maintain gallery lighting, lighting inventory and lighting control system
- De-install, clean, repair and store lighting equipment
WORK DEMANDS and ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to operate and/or work on ladders, scaffolding, and in scissor lifts
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
- Ability to lift at least 25lbs.
- Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
