SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manager Public Programs (Performance) is a fixed-term assignment (through January 2026) focused on planning, producing, and implementing weekly onsite performance programs during Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers. Reporting to the Director, Public Programs, the Manager, Public Programs (Performance) will coordinate external performance partners and collaborate with an internal cross-functional team on the preparation, facilitation, and follow-up of the performance series. As a member of the Education and Public Engagement Department, the Manager, Public Programs (Performance) attends monthly department meetings and other department-wide activities as needed.

SALARY RANGE: $68,959 - 70,000 Annually

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public programming or organization and production of live events or performances
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment are a must
- Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment, and initiative
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and digital asset management systems
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers exhibition performance programming and strategize with internal teams toward the success of the performance series.
- Steward and manage external performance partner organizations, including contracting and payments, scheduling meetings and managing communications, supporting museum access for staff of partner organizations, and other coordination as necessary.
- Oversee onsite operations and scheduling of weekly performances, including managing performers and staff, signage and printed materials, production and technical support, and documentation.
- Complete administrative support for performances, including accounting and budget tracking.
- Convene internal stakeholders as needed and lead implementation strategy for performance operations and production changes.
WORK DEMANDS and ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
- This position requires comfort with a fast-paced, multi-tasking tempo, and a regard for a detail-oriented work environment while remaining collaborative and flexible.
- This is an onsite role. Performances will take place during the day (weekdays and weekends) as well as select monthly evenings. Ability to work one weekend day and occasional evenings required.
- Ability to lift at least 5-10 lbs.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree a plus.
