Position: Children's Mental Health Specialist
Location: Pittsburg, CA
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 2:30pm (32.5 paid hours/week) 
Compensation: $25 per hour + plus great benefits!

About the Position:
Join our team at VistAbility as a Children’s Mental Health Specialist, where you’ll play a key role in supporting children who have experienced trauma, abuse, and loss, as well as those who need extra help with social skills, self-regulation, and impulse control. This position is a great opportunity to make a lasting impact while working in a nurturing, therapeutic preschool environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead classes designed to support children’s emotional and developmental growth.
  • Assist children with goals outlined in their MediCal Problem Lists.
  • Plan and implement daily activities including class time, music, and meals.
  • Maintain close communication with parents and caregivers, offering strategies to support children at home.
  • Write daily MediCal progress notes and supervise the Children’s Mental Health Assistant.
  • Advocate for children and serve as a positive role model.
  • Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings.


Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher; experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of how trauma and abuse affect young children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Must meet state health and safety requirements and hold a valid CA Driver's license.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and assist with children’s physical needs.
  • Must have the stamina and agility to manage physical activities such as bending, squatting, and responding to emergencies.
