Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Aggregate Plant

Rockydale Quarries is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our Staunton, VA aggregate plant. This role supports plant maintenance operations and may require travel to other company locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine, preventative, and scheduled maintenance on mobile and heavy equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to minimize downtime
Drive equipment and company vehicles to and from job sites and plant locations
Operate cranes and other lifting equipment as required
Perform welding and fabrication based on drawings, specifications, and original designs
Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure clear communication and efficient operations
Maintain safe work practices in compliance MSHA regulations
Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents and moving violations
Maintain good housekeeping, including equipment appearance, workspaces, and shop areas
Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required
3–5 years of maintenance or heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred
Aggregate industry experience and familiarity with related equipment strongly preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Welding and fabrication proficiency required
Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as production demands require
