Compensation: $25/per story; $10/photos; $20/hour social media/videos

Duration: Semester-by-Semester Basis

The Journalism Intern will assist with each area of Tillamook County Pioneer as needed. Responsibilities include producing a weekly content as assigned for production and website. Interns are expected to produce professional content under all appropriate FCC regulations and the Associated Press style guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Scheduling, interview and collate written and electronic data for story subject matter.

2. Produce content for websites meeting deadlines.

3. Tailor content to multiple platforms; Podcasts, website, print, blog and social media

4. Create and manage a file of contacts and info for upcoming events, press releases and networking.

5. Assist with marketing by identifying subjects and coordinating efforts for the publicity of Pioneer’s activities and acknowledgments.

6. Coordinate and assist in the creation of a variety of mediums, including additional social media outreach, podcast series, and more.

7. Attend staff meetings and trainings.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience – Plans to or enrolled in Communication Arts, Electronic Arts or Journalism required.

Knowledge and Abilities - Successful candidate will possess knowledge of journalism ethics and media/web production, as well as the ability to connect well with students. Must be willing to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and volunteers. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, dependability and punctuality are a must. Must possess enhanced leadership skills and be able to work in a diverse environment.

Other Qualifications - This applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends during the academic year. Ability to interpret and carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner. Employee must have a strong collaborative skills, be adaptable to last-minute changes and have the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and personalities.
