This position is based in Pacific City, Oregon.

It is a combination of in-person and virtual/remote work that will be required.

Classification: Part time, Temporary Position, Total of 200 hours (Approximately 20 hrs/wk, Flexible scheduling)

Compensation: $15/hr

General Description
The Watershed Intern will work closely with Nestucca, Neskowin, and Sand Lake Watersheds Council (NNSLWC) staff to assist with water quality monitoring, outreach activities and events, and restoration project implementation.

Summary of Position Responsibilities Monitoring:
  • Assist with water sample collection, processing, analysis, data management.
  • Assist in the maintenance of water temperature loggers and managing data gathered from loggers.
  • Collect field data in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Use computers to enter, store, and analyze data.

Education and Outreach:
  • Assist in planning and facilitating events: Science Pubs, Dory Days, etc.
  • Publicize events (make flyers, send announcements, press releases, post flyers throughout the community). ?Attend events and share information about the Watershed Council.

Grant and Project Development Support:
  • Assist in preparing grant applications for new projects.
  • Research grant opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Dual credit student working towards high school diploma, or high school diploma already earned, and/or attending college or applied to attend college courses in the upcoming term.
  • A valid Oregon State driver’s license.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Computing skills ?-? MS Office Software ?-? Online file-sharing platforms
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions and geography.
  • Ability to track multiple projects and meet deadlines associated with each project.
  • Demonstrate ability to represent the Council in a professional manner, be organized, and have strong oral and written communication skills.
