Qualifications

The right candidate:
• Is enrolled at Tillamook Bay Community College as a high school student, has a high school diploma or GED, or a college student.
• Is an avid learner, is curious, and enjoys variety in job tasks
• Is dependable and is not afraid to ask questions and ask for help when needed
• Has a valid driver's license; a personal vehicle is also recommended for this position
• Has access to a laptop/computer with internet

Work Environment
This internship will combine remote work, computer work, and site visits throughout Tillamook County.

Job Description 
Through this position, an intern will be provided with leadership training and exposure to multiple aspects of the natural resource sector, from farming, forestry, and fisheries to natural resource policy issues, allowing the intern to explore career opportunities. The intern will also learn about the sectors' positive impacts on communities and challenges faced at the local, state, and national levels. The intern will assist the local organization, Tillamook Working Lands and Waters Cooperative with regular meetings, events, survey development, ongoing projects. The intern will also develop communications including social media and newsletters. The intern may also engage with other natural resources groups and entities such as Tillamook County Farm Bureau and local watershed councils. The intern will track local to state level issues by monitoring city council meetings, county commissioner meetings, and state board and commission meetings. The estimated time commitment is up to 30 hours per week. Deliverables The intern will develop a report on their learned experience, internship findings, future goals, and recommendations for the sector to recruit and retain young industry leaders.
