Lower Nehalem Community Trust

The Trust’s headquarters is in Manzanita and its primary property is in Nehalem 2. The Trust stewards lands in and around the Nehalem Estuary for wildlife habitat, and provides educational and community activities on the land II.

Hours 
Flexible - up to 30 per week 
Duration - flexible - could start as soon as mid-May

Compensation
TBD, Minimum $15/hr

III. Nature of position
A. Level of responsibilities can be modified, depending on interest, experience, and skill of intern
B. Intern would learn to plan and implement a variety of activities in a land trust:
1. Assist Stewardship lead on the following:
a) Help organize and run stewardship activities (and learn to organize) such as
(1) Invasive plant removal
(2) Native plant planting
(3) Monitoring of Trust properties, following established protocols
(4) Maintenance, repair, and removal of infrastructure
(5) Tool maintenance
(6) Stewardship of properties (tree monitoring & protection, etc.)
(7) Highway cleanups
b) Work with volunteers
(1) Help lead volunteer trips
(2) Plan and assign tasks
(3) Keep track of hours and work completed
(4) Maintain safe working environment
 
2. Assist Education and Outreach Coordinator to organize and implement educational activities IV.

Requirements for position:
A. Access to transportation to and from Nehalem (Vehicle and Oregon driver’s license preferred)
B. Able to lift and maneuver tools used in landscaping and weed control
C. Ability to move and work on uneven ground
D. Other responsibilities may be possible, depending on skill and interest of intern
