  • Tasks:

    • Community Public Programs: Assist with Spring and Summer public programs including assisting with prep, set-up/clean-up, checking in participants, and education/interpretation during the events. The intern will be offered 1-2 hours to prep for events (review content covered, tour sights, discuss logistics, and research information as needed). They will assist staff and volunteers on programs and may work with their own groups during various events.  See a list of scheduled and pending events at the end of this description.

    • Youth Programs: Assist with spring and summer youth/school programs. Assist in planning programs and leading students in education programs. Help create needed teaching materials, assist with animal collection, and travel to school and field trip locations with WEBS staff and volunteers. 

    • COMMUNITY SCIENCE EFFORTS: Train and assist with collecting data and volunteer trainings for various community science efforts including:

    • SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CREATION: Utilizing existing photos/video resources and/or capturing new content, create a suite of educational posts for social media (~10-12) that can be used throughout the year. Examples of content may be Feathered First Friday posts using existing resources; and various Netarts Bay-focused content with original photography. 

    • SCHOOL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Assist in creating teaching materials/ resources for school education programs. Organize school program materials for the following school year. 

    • AS TIME ALLOWS: 

      • Minor video editing

      • Photo organization on the drive

      • Compile existing resources and assets for the bay signage project 

  • Compensation: ~$15 / hour; approximately 170-200 hours for the internship, estimated 10-20 hours per week, work week varies depending on the time of year (school vs. summer break) and organizational events. 

  • Mileage reimbursement: available for travel using a personal vehicle at the federal reimbursement rate 

  • Work options: Work from home (with approval and availability of personal computer/resources) or from the WEBS office

  • WEBS can provide some gear and resources as needed
