This seasonal temporary position focuses on the operation and maintenance of the water treatment and water distribution systems while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations. This position serves under the direct supervision of the District Manager. Experience earned in this position will count towards certification in the water treatment and water distribution industry if pursued.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
The following list of essential functions is intended to be representative of the tasks performed by this position. Additionally, incumbents may not perform all Essential Functions.
General Duties:
• Maintain and operate the facilities for water treatment and distribution within the Netarts Water
District in a manner most efficient and economical to the District while meeting all applicable
District ordinances as well as local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• Install, repair, and replace water lines, fire hydrants, valves, equipment, and other necessary
ancillary parts to the water treatment and distribution systems.
• Complete daily work orders for meter installations, water service reconnects and disconnects,
repairs, meter reads, hydrant flushes, blow-off operations, and other routine maintenance
activities.
• Maintain buildings and equipment including the District office, water treatment plant, storage
tanks, water reservoirs, pump stations, dams, pumps, vehicles, tools, and other District
equipment in a safe and clean manner, including general housekeeping to keep such areas clean
and presentable to the public and regulatory agencies.
• Mark accurate location of water line locates received from utility notifications.
• Be knowledgeable in computer usage including Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel,
as well as computer systems including SCADA.
• Perform additional duties as may be assigned by the District Manager or the Board of Directors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school degree or equivalency degree.

Be at least 18-years of age upon date of hire.

Possess a valid Oregon vehicle operator's license at all times of employment.

Be insurable on District’s auto and liability insurance policies at all times of employment.

Must have professional writing, communication, and appropriate customer service skills.

Must pass a background and drug screening check.

Work environment is generally represented as outdoors in uneven terrain and extreme weather conditions.

• Perform repetitive motion activities.
• Be able to lift 60 pounds.
• Dig in ditches and dig out meter boxes
