Tillamook Works- Masonry Intern (Nehalem, OR)

A masonry intern assists skilled masons on construction sites while learning the trade through hands-on work and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Assist masons in laying brick, block, and stone
Mix and prepare mortar and grout
Transport and organize materials and tools on the job site
Clean and prepare work areas
Measure and cut masonry materials
Help build walls, fireplaces, chimneys, patios, and other structures
Follow construction plans and safety guidelines
Maintain tools and equipment

Skills and Requirements

Basic understanding of construction tools
Ability to lift heavy materials (often 50+ lbs)
Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors
Willingness to learn masonry techniques
Teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail and safety practices

What Interns Learn

Brick and stone laying techniques
Mortar mixing and application
Reading construction drawings
Construction site safety
Use of masonry tools (trowels, levels, jointers, etc.)

Work Environment

Construction sites (residential or commercial)
Outdoor conditions in varying weather
Physically active work with standing, lifting, and bending
