Project Details

· Project Title: Applying AI in Your Small Business

· Problem Description: Small business owners are challenged in adopting AI. A lack of technical expertise and concerns about cost and cybersecurity keep many from using the AI tools available to them.

· This project will solve this problem by showing small business owners (SBDC clients) how to apply AI tools in their business (teaching technical skills), address system requirements, outline costs and provide cybersecurity best practices.

· The Business Impact of this educational project will transform these challenges into opportunities for growth and increased capacity. By helping clients improve their AI literacy and guiding them through implementation, clients will discover how the tools can enhance their operational efficiency and improve their ability to make more informed strategic decisions through AI powered analytics.

· AI Application Potential includes AI Receptionist for phone and email replies and identifying other tasks that could be automated.

Student Requirements

· Student applicants should have an interest in AI as a business tool and basic to advanced skills in the use of business technology. One student will be chosen based on desire to learn and help local small business owners.

Project Management

· Project Supervisor: Rudel Larriba - Program Coordinator, Tillamook Bay SBDC

· Over the course of the 7 week project, the student participant will work 20 hours per week and meet with the project manager a minimum of twice a week to receive direction and feedback on progress.

· Expected outcome will be the development of program curriculum to accomplish the business impacts outlined above.
