- Supervisor: Katie Simmons, Founder Why This Internship Matters Perch Makers Table is a grassroots, community-built project. There are no outside investors and no big contractors... just a local maker building something she believes this coast needs. Bringing in a young person from this community to help build it from the ground up is exactly the kind of hands-on, meaningful work experience this program was designed to create. The intern will leave this summer with tangible skills, a finished project they can point to, and the knowledge that they helped open the doors of a new gathering place for Manzanita and the Oregon coast.
