The Director, Commercial Finance (FP&A) – Payments is a high-visibility role within ProfitSolv’s Finance organization, established to bring rigorous financial discipline and deep payments domain expertise to one of the company’s fastest-growing business lines. Reporting directly to the VP, Commercial Finance (FP&A), this individual will serve as the dedicated financial partner to the EVP/General Manager of Payments, providing the analytical infrastructure needed to scale the payments P&L, optimize partner economics, and equip the sales organization with transaction-level pricing intelligence.
This is a foundational hire: the first finance professional dedicated exclusively to payments at ProfitSolv. The successful candidate will have the rare combination of payments industry fluency and financial modeling rigor, and will play a central role in shaping how the company measures, manages, and grows its payments revenue.

As a Director, Commercial Financial , you will:
- Own comprehensive financial reporting for the payments line of business, translating raw processing data into clear executive-level insights.
- Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual payments P&L reporting packages for the CFO/VP, Commercial Finance (FP&A), EVP of Payments, and executive leadership team.
- Track and analyze key unit economics including gross revenue, net revenue after interchange and processing costs, take rate trends, and contribution margin by cohort, vertical, and channel.
- Partner with the EVP of Payments to develop actionable commentary on variances from plan, identifying root causes and surfacing corrective opportunities.
- Lead all payments-related financial planning cycles, including annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and three-year strategic plan modeling.
- Build driver-based forecast models that incorporate SaaS attach rate, average volume per merchant, take rate, and churn assumptions.
- Provide monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and prior year, with structured narrative for CFO and board reporting.
- Develop scenario models (upside/base/downside) to support strategic decision-making around pricing changes, new partner launches, and volume growth initiatives.
- Own the end-to-end financial modeling and ongoing audit of all payment partner residual structures, ensuring accuracy and contract compliance.
- Build and maintain dynamic models for each partner relationship that reconcile projected vs. actual residual payments and flag discrepancies.
- Evaluate the economic impact of new partner agreements, renegotiations, and pricing adjustments, providing clear IRR/NPV analysis to support deal approvals.
- Work cross-functionally with Payments Operations and Legal to ensure residual calculations are correctly flowing through financial systems.
- Identify interchange optimization opportunities and model the revenue impact of interchange category shifts or program adjustments.
- Serve as the analytical backbone for the payments sales organization, providing deal-level profitability models for prospective and existing merchant accounts.
- Build and maintain a dynamic rate card and pricing tool that allows the sales team to model expected revenue, cost of funds, and contribution margin for any proposed deal structure.
- Establish minimum acceptable return thresholds by customer segment and use case, and enforce a disciplined deal-approval framework in partnership with the EVP of Payments.
- Analyze the existing customer base to identify accounts with below-threshold economics and develop strategies for repricing or renegotiation.
- Support sales leadership with competitive pricing benchmarks and develop data-driven recommendations for take rate positioning.
- Develop and maintain a payments financial dashboard that provides real-time visibility into volume, revenue, take rate, and margin across the portfolio.
- Build churn and attrition models to quantify payment volume at risk and partner with the EVP of Payments on retention strategies.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives including new vertical entry, embedded finance product launches, and partnership expansions.
- Support M&A diligence and integration activities related to payments, as needed.

A great fit for this position has:
- 12+ Years of Progressive Experience: You have a pedigree that likely includes
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field required; MBA or CPA is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive finance experience, with a substantial and demonstrable portion spent directly within the payments industry.
- Payments-native background is required: prior experience at a payment processor, acquirer, card network, or payments-focused SaaS company is non-negotiable.
- Deep fluency in payments economics: interchange, assessment fees, residual structures, BPS/take rate calculations, and processing cost models.
- Advanced financial modeling skills with demonstrated ability to build complex, driver-based models from scratch in Excel and other cloud-native forecasting tools (Adaptive Insights, Prophix, Datarails or similar).
- Proven experience owning or significantly contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Ability to synthesize large, complex datasets into clear executive-level narratives and recommendations.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with sales, operations, legal, and executive leadership.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial intelligence.

Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Private-equity-backed experience
- Experience supporting or owning FP&A for a payments or embedded finance business unit within a SaaS company.
- Familiarity with partner residual management systems and revenue share structures.
- Experience building or enhancing payments reporting infrastructure and business intelligence dashboards.
- Prior exposure to M&A diligence or integration work in payments or fintech.
- Proficiency with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and comfort querying data independently (SQL a plus).
