JOB SUMMARY
HVAC Service Technicians will be responsible for:
  • iPlant chiller operations, maintenance, and corrective repairs.  TEAL iPlants include air cooled chiller, pumps, valves and piping system. 
  • Boiler operations for comfort heating and domestic hot water boilers operation, maintenance and repairs.  TEAL boilers include boilers, pumps, drives, vales and piping systems.
  • Technicians will also assist NOC/controls technicians as needed maintaining control communication and central plant chillers/boilers plant uptime metrics. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, service and repair of commercial HVAC chiller/boiler equipment.
  • Diagnose and inspect chiller systems and their related components (i.e.: chillers, circulating pumps, VFD Drives, expansion tanks, air separators etc.) identifying necessary repairs or potential failures. 
  • Diagnose and inspect boiler systems and their related components, perform combustion analysis COS/NOx, adjust and maintain flame safeguards as needed.
  • Perform pipe service and repairs, including grooved lock pipe systems following all trade standard practices for installation, service and repairs. 
  • Inspect and observe pressure of refrigerant, liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of units and make necessary adjustments.
  • Service, adjust and maintain internal electrical/electronic components, parts and systems.
  • Read and understand system drawings, electrical schematics, flow diagrams and manufactures product and equipment information.
  • Inform proper personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making informed decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Prepare written reports and materials (i.e.: repair status, activity logs, etc.) documenting activities and/or conveying information to applicable parties.
  • Request equipment parts, components and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repairs.
  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate operational issues and concerns.
  • Assist project construction crew with system installations on occasion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Formal HVAC trade school training, minimum of three years
  • EPA 608 Refrigerant Certification, required
  • Experience with Carrier air cooled chillers and Raypak boiler systems a plus
  • Thorough understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration heat transfer cycle
  • Computer experience with either MS Office and/or a proprietary work order management system
  • Able to lift 75 lbs. unassisted; climb class 1A ladders and work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold)
  • Must be available for full-time employment with occasional overtime and On-Call Rotation, as needed
  • Maintain state issued motor vehicle driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong verbal & written communication, along with proactive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a cohesive team
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company information, business units and personnel information.
