What is Director of Sales?

As a TRAFFIX Director of Sales you will play a vital role in the achievement of branch targets and TRAFFIX business goals. Your primary responsibility will be identifying companies experiencing challenges with their supply chain transportation network and presenting TRAFFIX’ suite of services and expertise as an optimal solution.

You will be the liaison between TRAFFIX and the large clients in your care. Your primary responsibility will be to build a strong, professional relationship with your clients. To do this, you will listen to their needs and assess the challenges they have. In coordination with the Operations team, you will design unique solutions using TRAFFIX wide range of transportation services to provide the client with value, while making their jobs easier.

You will be the frontline contact for the customer and their best friend at TRAFFIX! When a problem arises, or we do not meet expectations, you will work with the client and your team to correct the issue, provide prompt and truthful communication to the customer, and follow up to identify how TRAFFIX can make up for the service failure.

What does a day in the life of an Director of Sales look like?

A day in the life of a TRAFFIX Director of Sales include some or all of the following:
  • Oversees all the Operation representatives in your respective branch
  • Maintain a highly productive team with a positive management style conducive to the TRAFFIX cultural values
  • Prospecting for companies that ship freight within North America
  • Researching companies/contacts in preparation for initial call
  • Cold calling and/or cold emailing prospects to initiate conversations
  • Identifying business opportunities within new and current customers
  • Building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Monitoring trends and changes in customer purchase behaviour and following up to determine the root cause
  • Collaborating with TRAFFIX experts to set up discovery calls and in-person meetings with prospective and existing customers
  • Lead other Sales Executives to achieve their targets
  • Developing and implementing guidelines for employee evaluations, recruitment, and promotion.
  • Lead your team in generating pricing strategies that fit the client’s budget while supporting the success of the branch
  • Using TRAFFIX business intelligence software, you will generate reports, develop sales strategies and targets to present to the Branch Director(s)
  • Be accountable to monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Provide escalation point assistance for high level issues with loads
  • Assist other team members when required.
     
Who are you?

After at least five years working in a Director of Sales role, you have become an expert multi-tasker, active listener, and excellent communicator with a friendly and confident personality. You love getting to know people and building lasting relationships. You display empathy when dealing with client challenges and use emotional intelligence to guide your interactions.

You are a compassionate leader that trusts your team to work hard without being micromanaged; however, you are ready to step in when one of your reports is struggling. 
Strategy is your passion! You love the challenge of getting to know the players on your team and leveraging their strengths to win! Collaborating with your sales reps, you devise plans that knock down obstacles, win RFPs, and close business. 
When a problem comes your way – you face it head on. You look for creative ways to solve the problem and understand that mistakes should be considered opportunities to learn and grow.
You love sales! Hunting for new business and delighting customers is your team’s top priority and you will go above and beyond to support them in those efforts.
