Position Summary
As a TRAFFIX Carrier Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in the achievement of your branch’s sales targets and growth. You will facilitate the achievement of these goals by negotiating fair but competitive rates, and managing the loads you book from pickup to delivery.

You will be working daily with Sales Representatives in your branch on costs for adhoc and RFP freight. You will use your knowledge of the industry, negotiating skills, and relationships with partner carriers to secure fair rates that support our client’s budgets and our carrier’s business.

Furthermore, you will be the frontline contact for the carriers you assign to loads and the primary contact for our accounting team in the event of invoicing discrepancies. If a carrier you assign has an issue, you will be responsible for leading the TRAFFIX team to resolution and for securing the relationship with the carrier.

What does a day in the life of a Carrier Sales Representative look like?
A day in the life of a TRAFFIX Carrier Sales Representative could include some or all of the following:

  • Negotiating rates with carriers to maximize profitability.
  • Monitoring trends and changes in the industry and educating your sales team about fluctuations that could impact service and/or rates.
  • Keeping the sales representative and account manager abreast of any issues related to loads you are responsible for.
  • Dispatching loads.
  • Proactively identifying potential problems and resolving them before they escalate
  • Providing costs for adhoc, contractual and RFP freight.
  • Work with the sales and/or account management team on any complications with loads you are responsible for.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, AM, drivers, and customers
  • Strong knowledge of North American trucking regulations and geography
  • Be able to effectively analyse potential problems/issues and proactively address to minimize impact to the customer using creative and resourceful problem solving
  • Effective planning and organization with attention to details and accuracy
  • A team player who can also work with minimal supervision

Education & Experience
  • 2+ years of experience as an Carrier Sales Rep with the Transportation environment
  • Leadership experience 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience with ground transportation and FTL
  • Capable of working in a high pressure, fast paced environment where quick thinking and proactive problem solving is required daily.
