The Winsor School is an independent girls' school for academically promising and motivated students in grades five through twelve, located in Boston’s Longwood/Fenway area. Founded in 1886 by Mary Pickard Winsor, it began as a small school of eight girls and has grown over more than a century into a vibrant, city-centered institution drawing students from throughout the Greater Boston region.

Academically, Winsor is known for its rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum and emphasis on deep intellectual engagement. Small class sizes (around 13 students on average) and a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio enable teachers to nurture curiosity, encourage thoughtful discussion, and support individual growth. Beyond the classroom, students benefit from a broad range of opportunities — including arts, athletics, global studies, and community-service programs — which help them explore interests, build confidence, and become well-rounded individuals.

Winsor’s vibrant community values intellectual curiosity, authentic engagement, and personal integrity and prepares young women to pursue their aspirations and contribute to the world. Winsor strives to create an environment of respect and inclusion.
