Senior Project Accountant (Birmingham, AL)

• Develop strong and enduring relationships with principals and project managers.
• Work autonomously on accounting functions such as review and posting of timesheets, monthly client invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate invoices for clients per contract terms.
• Review, enter and pay consultant invoices in accordance with consultant agreements, budgets, and pay-when-paid requirements.
• Support project managers in project setup and project maintenance in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Serve as backup for payroll processing as needed.
• Review contracts, project work plans and proforma to ensure appropriate fees are utilized.
• Work with project managers to track and report financial performance including review job to date costs compared to budget and projected future labor compared to fee remaining.
• Maintain financial open items list to Principals and Project Managers and circulate weekly. 
• Maintain financial scorecard for Project Managers to track completion of open financial tasks during each billing cycle.
• Provide necessary training and support on Deltek Vantagepoint for principals and project managers (inputting project labor plans and consultant information).
• Provide ad-hoc reporting as needed to help support principals and project managers decision making

• Accounting or Finance degree required.
• 3+ years of experience working in a professional services environment or public accounting firm preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience working with Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint or other resource planning tool preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Highly proficient in Excel with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Collaborative and professional work ethic.
• Motivation to learn and grow.
