ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to oversee the engineering, procurement and construction activities for solar energy projects from start to finish. The Project Manager position is a key role within the WHC organization to ensure our projects are delivered to the highest standards. The Project Manager has an overall responsibility for all aspects of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment compliance, managing client relations, pre-award planning, and developing project strategies to suit the client’s and corporate needs of the Company for a project or multiple projects. This includes oversight and coordination of procurement, prime contracts, subcontractor management program and project controls functions including profitability, schedule, cost, change management and risk management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage solar project execution, including profit and loss management, working with trade contractors, and participating in proposals and presentations. 
  • Contribute to project financial tracking as follows: 
    • Approves miscellaneous job expenditures 
    • Assists in preparing monthly Owner Requisitions 
    • Processes monthly requisitions 
    • Manages change order process 
    • Assists in Loss-Control Management 
    • Manages project assets 
  • Collaborates with the job site and Safety team to develop, implement, and maintain the project safety program for a safe work environment. Creates and influences safety culture as a mentor and model. 
  • Oversees the implementation of the quality management plan and quality culture. 
  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages design deliverable schedule to facilitate and assist with permits, procurement, off-site production, construction, testing, commissioning, and closeout of the project 
  • Manages project performance status reports for schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety and environment, quality control, and best practices/lessons learned programs. 
  • Collaborates with Field Supervision to confirm that all necessary equipment, material, and resources are in place for field operations at appropriate times. 
  • Manages risk of EPC Agreement and design compliance to contractual obligations. 
  • Manages project team, client representative, consultant, and trade contractor relationships. 
  • Manages staff and hourly workforce schedules. 
  • Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers, including local governmental officials. 

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines required.
Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Solar Construction project management, including roles as Project Engineer, Sr. Project Engineer, and Assistant Project Manager.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Computer proficiency is a necessity, including familiarity with: 
    • MS Office Suite
    • Schedule software; Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project 
    • Project Management/Project Accounting software 
  • Strong communication skills. Confidently interacts with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form.
  • Can read and understand construction documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, subcontracts.
  • Proven understanding of estimating and project management theories, methodologies, and industry practices.
  • Thorough understanding of scheduling processes.
  • Can contribute to and integrate cost reports.
  • Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards, and practices.
  • Spanish-speaking a plus.
  • Ability to travel (about 30%).


WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a blended position that will require time in one of our office locations in Broussard, LA or The Woodlands, TX during pre-construction activities and at least 50% project site based during execution of the project in the field.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Project Manager reports to the Senior Project Manager or VP of Construction.
