ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit an experienced Site Manager to oversee on-site construction activities for solar energy projects from start to finish. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of solar construction practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities for solar PV (photovoltaic) projects.
- Ensure site safety compliance with OSHA standards and company policies; lead daily safety briefings.
- Manage day-to-day operations including scheduling, subcontractor oversight, material delivery, and work sequencing.
- Serve as the main point of contact for field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and productivity, report progress and issues to project management team.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and permitting requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and permitting agencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, logs, change orders, and incident reports.
- Identify potential issues or delays early and implement corrective actions.
- Support commissioning and final inspection activities to ensure system readiness and client satisfaction
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
- OSHA 30 required; CPR/First Aid and PMP or NABCEP certification a plus.
- 5+ years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in solar project management or site supervision.
- Familiarity with NEC, utility interconnection, and renewable energy codes/regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
- Proficiency with MS Office and construction management software.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution capabilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is field based and often works within remote project locations. Travel and/or living in temporary accommodation is required. Able to work 6 days on, 1 day off shift with 10-hour shifts for the duration of project.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Site Manager reports to the Director of Construction.
