The Specialist, Benefits plays a key role in executing the day-to-day operations of WHC’s benefit programs. This position is a hands-on, detail-oriented practitioner responsible for carrying out benefit-related tasks with accuracy, compliance, and strong employee support. In addition, the Specialist, Benefits works collaboratively across HR, operations, and vendor partners to ensure benefit processes run smoothly and effectively for employees.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute the day-to-day processing and administration of all company benefit plans
- Support full-cycle benefit administration, including:
- New hire enrollment
- Annual open enrollment logistics and support
- Life event changes
- Terminations and COBRA notification processing
- Claims issue follow-up and coordination
- Ensures compliance with all benefits related employment law. Including DOL, FLSA, EEO, FMLA, ERISA while providing appropriate training and resources to personnel for compliance.
- Oversee the administration of the 401(k) plan, including compliance with IRS regulations, and employee education.
- Ensure HSA and 401k contributions are reported and submitted timely.
- Conduct audits, analyze benefits data, and provide actionable insights for program improvements.
- Support updates to benefit processes, policies, and training materials.
- Act as the first line of support for employee benefit questions, providing clear, timely, and service-oriented responses.
- Help develop, maintain, and distribute benefit communications, guides, FAQs, and intranet content.
- Coordinate with benefit vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators to support daily operations.
- Gather, organize, and maintain benefits data to support reporting and analysis needs.
- Identify process gaps or inefficiencies and provide recommendations to improve accuracy, timeliness, or employee experience.

Position Requirements
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- SHRM certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) is considered an asset.
Experience
- 2-5 years experience in US Benefit Plan Management.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and relevant regulations (ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Proficiency in Excel, including formula creation for reporting and productivity
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem??'solving abilities, including:
- Identifying issues
- Analyzing root causes
- Recommending effective, business aligned solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
