WHC Energy Services- Welder/Fabricator (Broussard, LA)

ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Welder/Fabricator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform welding repairs and maintenance to equipment including but not limited to: dozers, excavators, forklifts, trucks, trailers drills.
Perform welding repairs and maintenance to ground engaging wear parts including but not limited to: dozer blades, bucket cutting edges, crusher bars, carbide teeth, drill heads, screen bars, pins and bushings.
Perform repairs and modifications to specialized equipment including but not limited to: boring and tunnelling equipment, welding rigs, cranes, winches, tensioners, pipe handling equipment, sea cans, drill heads, pipe plows, trenchers, pile drivers and prep machines.
Fabricate specialized engineered equipment from design drawings including but not limited to: Micro tunnelling machines, pipe plows, utility rigs, pipe handling equipment, modular storage solutions, mobile welding rigs and trenching equipment.
Perform simplified design and fabrication of necessary modifications and solutions to equipment related challenges. Including but not limited to: handrails, weather proofing, modular storage solutions, lifting frames, skid frames, simple chassis / bodies, attachments and ground engaging tooling.
High levels of experience using carbon steel welding solutions including but not limited to: GMAW mig welding, SMAW stick welding, plasma cutting, oxy fuel heating and cutting, grinding, shaping and forming, drilling, tapping and sawing carbon steel components.
The skill and ability to safely work unsupervised to perform these tasks.
Experience and competence to operate and direct heavy mobile lifting equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, overhead cranes, skid steers and jacks. The competence to safely work in the vicinity of heavy mobile equipment such as dozers, excavators, cranes & trucks. (formalized training & certification can be provided)
Must be able to follow simple fabrication drawings, compile material lists, be self-motivated and able to plan their own day to day work based on the general direction of the equipment manager and foremen.
Preferred to have experience with CNC cutting tables. If not experienced, then will be expected to learn with training and supervision.
Preferred but not essential skills & experience to apply for the role including but are not limited to: press break operation, aluminum welding experience, lathe & milling operation experience, CAD design, pipe / pressure vessel welding.
Wear appropriate protective gear and ensure compliance with established health/safety regulations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

High school diploma/GED preferred.

Experience

References or evidence of experience as a competent welder/fabricator.
Experience working on construction sites and with power tools.

Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of construction sites and shop environments best practices and safety procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based at our Broussard, LA shop. Travel to project sites may be required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Welder/Fabricator reports to the Corporate Logistics & Equipment Manager.
