Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and applications to access and retrieve raw data from various sources
- Design and implement robust data structures and algorithms to organize and store extracted data effectively
- Apply techniques such as data parsing, cleansing, and normalization to ensure data quality and consistency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights
- Identify and fix inefficiencies in the codebase, optimizing performance and resource utilization
- Continuously monitor and analyze data processing workflows to identify areas for improvement
- Troubleshoot and debug data-related issues, proposing and implementing scalable solutions
- Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance data processing capabilities
- Document data processing workflows, best practices, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing and maintainability
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience in data manipulation, transformation, and extraction techniques
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Familiarity with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data storage technologies
- Knowledge of data quality assurance techniques and best practices
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Desired Skills
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
- Knowledge of data streaming technologies like Kafka
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data processing services
- Exposure to data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Matplotlib, D3.js, Tableau)
- Previous experience in data engineering or data-intensive software development roles
Education/Experience
3 yrs., B.S. in a technical discipline or 4 additional yrs. in place of B.S.
