General Purpose:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet our company's operational requirements. Buyers will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely procurement of products at the best possible cost and quality, ensuring that the transactions are completed in an accurate and timely manner to support projects and internal customers.
                                                                                                                         
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
  • Effectively communicate and project the principles of McCarl’s Talent Advantage Roadmap.
  • Communicate and meet with suppliers to build and ensure relationship quality.
  • Evaluate pricing and lead times to provide maximum value in cost savings and schedule execution.
  • Update project teams on material expediting and relay any issues that may impact schedule demands.
  • Communicate with the supervisor on priorities, back ordered materials and develop delivery dates.
  • Coordinate logistics expediting between vendors and project teams.
  • Site support of material management and acquisition.
  • Support project teams by preparing correspondences (RFI’s, email, memos, RFQ’s), conference notes, meeting minutes, and other related documents impacting purchasing activities.
  • Manage supplier, subcontractor and commodity performance to meet company and individual metrics utilizing relevant procurement strategies and mitigate supply chain risk.
  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between McCarl’s and vendors.
  • Support estimators and project managers as requested.
  • Work directly with Design to ensure goods are available prior to release to the shop.
  • Provide support to ensure accuracy of goods tracking and expediting.
  • Write sub-contracts and coordinate with subcontractors on their scope of work.
  • Document Control for purchasing and material documentation.
  • Data Entry (Purchase Orders, Material Tracker, Job Setups, etc.)
  • Support and lead McCarl’s initiatives to improve the Purchasing and expediting processes.
  • Complete any tasks requested by supervision and management.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s (or Associates with at least 2 years of experience) degree in business administration, supply chain or other related fields.
  • Strong communication and customer services skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.
  • Ability to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write detailed instructions and correspondence. 
  • Ability to read, comprehend, compare, and communicate technical documentation and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Intermediate math skills such as calculating percentages, area, circumference, weight, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of piping terminology is a plus.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Ability and willingness to work extra time when needed.
