DISPATCH SPECIALIST – St. Louis Division

Join our team as a Dispatch Specialist in our new St. Louis County location, providing pupil transportation for the Special School District, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and exemplary transportation department.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable:  Must have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Computer proficiency: Must have basic skill with Microsoft applications, databases, and routing software   
  • Communication:  Must maintain open/direct communication with immediate supervisor and co-workers         
  • Empathy:  Must have empathetic attitude toward children
Essential Functions: 
Dispatch Specialist: 
  • Monitors Dispatching/Routing software to insure Drivers are on time and on schedule
  • Monitors Dispatching/Routing software to insure Passengers are on time and on schedule
  • Monitors Dispatching/Routing software for critical error messages and makes necessary adjustments
  • Updates Dispatching/Routing software accordingly, so it is accurate
  • Processes same day route changes, requests, and modifies routes accordingly
  • Communicates with drivers via two-way radio and/or wireless handheld terminal
  • Communicates with drivers via Dispatching/Routing software and tablets
  • Utilizes drivers and equipment in an effective and efficient manner
  • Coordinates driver assignments
  • Records and tracks the movement and location of vehicles
  • Ensure transportation requests are completed in an efficient and timely manner
  • Route Passengers accordingly via Dispatching/Routing software
Clerical Duties:
  • Answers phones
  • Schedules transports
  • Completes data entry
  • Completes a variety of reports and duties i.e., payroll, driver schedules, etc. as assigned
Dispatching/Routing software –Tablets:
  • Train drivers on tablet utilization
  • Insure tablets are being used daily and properly
  • Insure tablets are functioning properly and repair accordingly
  • Insure tablets are accounted for

Transportation Specialists:  Will assist as directed with the following duties:
  • Driver Support
  • Participate in Driver Training – New hire
  • Participate in Driver Training – In-services
  • Provide feedback and direction in a professional and timely manner
Secondary Job Functions:
  • Transport Passengers as necessary
  • Participates in the on-call rotation

About the Position:
  • $20-$24 per hour, commensurate on experience
  • Full-Time Hourly
  • This is an in-person position
  • Monday-Friday – Work schedule may vary, based on the needs of the department
