Position Summary:
The Assistant Student Transportation Operations Manager supports the overall management and daily operations of the student transportation department. Working under the direction of the Student Transportation Operations Manager, this position helps ensure that transportation services are safe, efficient, and reliable. The Assistant Manager provides administrative, logistical, and supervisory support to achieve departmental goals and maintain compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Student Transportation Operations Manager supports the overall management and daily operations of the student transportation department. Working under the direction of the Student Transportation Operations Manager, this position helps ensure that transportation services are safe, efficient, and reliable. The Assistant Manager provides administrative, logistical, and supervisory support to achieve departmental goals and maintain compliance with company and regulatory standards.

- Communications: Manage daily communications center operations, including performing daily dispatch/routing functions, coordinating operations with routing, managing district communications, and developing/managing positive relationships with district staff.
- Scheduling: Manage driver and aide schedules and availability. Responsible for daily/weekly coverage for all programs and managing driver hours, overtime, and scheduling with the Operations Manager. Responsible for daily reports to Finance.
- Office and Clerical: Develop and manage positive relationships with district staff. Oversee timely completion of timecards and timecard corrections and assist in timely completion and submission of personnel reports.
- Safety and Training: Receive, document, and respond to telephone or radio reports of accidents and incidents. Investigate assigned accidents and incidents. Complete video reviews as assigned. File insurance claims as needed. Complete orientation, training, and in-services.
- Field Staff Management: Assist with personnel, including interviewing, training, evaluating, and corrective/disciplinary action in partnership with HR. Oversee updates of employee requirements, including medical, tracking absences, tardiness, vacations, orientations, and anniversary dates. Provide feedback, instruction, direction, and correction in a professional and timely manner. Coordinate driver needs for equipment.
Secondary Job Functions:
- Work with Operations Manager to develop short-term and long-term planning for transportation services.
- Back-up driver and aide, transporting passengers as needed.
- Serve as a back-up to Operations Manager.
- Participate in the supervisory on-call rotation.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with students, parents, teachers, administrators and all other individuals.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of transportation operations, scheduling, dispatch, and fleet maintenance practices.
- Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with employees, students, parents, and district staff.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft applications, databases, and routing software.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to company policies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.
