Part Time Day Shift Weekdays.

Primary Duties Include: 
  • Ensure that the BHSH Infection Prevention program is in compliance with the SD Administrative Rules and with Federal regulations, including the CMS Conditions of Participation and CIHQ Standards.
  • Document the activities of the Infection Prevention department including meaningful reports, statistics, meeting minutes, identification of issues and corresponding interventions, staff education activities, and program monitoring activities.
  • Conduct surveillance rounds monitoring infection prevention practices including: appropriate hand hygiene, compliance with appropriate transmission-based isolation precautions,  and monitoring of  appropriate cleaning of environmental surfaces.
  • Serve as Infection Control subject matter expert for nursing staff, medical staff, other hospital departments and contract services to ensure compliance with applicable standards of infection prevention.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Infection Prevention, Infectious Disease Medical Director and multidisciplinary healthcare team to identify, assess and mitigate infection risks.
  • Utilize current literature as well as professional organization and national expert recommendations to ensure that best practices are implemented throughout the infection prevention program.
  • Assist with monitoring, evaluating and tracking patient complications, safety and risk management issues within the facility.
Qualifications:  
  • Current South Dakota RN license with at least two years of hospital experience required.  
  • Detail oriented and excellent computer skills.
  • Experience in infection prevention or a strong interest in learning about infection prevention.
