CL1006: MongoDB Consulting Engineer (US)

Description

Clarity Business Solutions is hiring a MongoDB Consulting Engineer to join our growing team and our expanding partnership with MongoDB. We’re looking for candidates who are U.S Citizens and have an active government clearance of any level. Applicants should have experience developing and deploying software applications and should feel confident interpreting a variety of languages including Java, C#, Python, JavaScript and Ruby. MongoDB experience is preferred but not required. We will provide you with the training necessary to successfully complete your daily activities.
 

About the Job

As a MongoDB Consulting Engineer you will engage with clients to provide training, system engineering, installation/upgrade, and performance tuning consultations. Assigned engagements are based on your experience and the difficulty of the consulting engagement. Consulting engagements will require you to send status emails to clients and in some cases consulting reports that cover all activities performed and all recommendations made during the consultation. The majority of consultations can be done remotely, however some may require you to be on location. Experience leading technical teams and written communications skills are highly desired.

When you join Clarity Business Solutions as a MongoDB Consulting Engineer, you will be required to go through a comprehensive MongoDB training program. This program will teach you how to use cloud services such as AWS, Linux administration skills, how to install and use MongoDB and MongoDB Ops Manager, how replication and sharding work, how to write and performance tune queries, and how to troubleshoot common MongoDB issues.

Once your training is complete, you will be assigned a mentor who will meet with you periodically. During the first few months, you will be assigned to shadow other consulting engineers. For your first few shadowing sessions, you will listen to the senior consulting engineer and take notes on how they perform their job. During subsequent sessions, you will be asked to play an active role in the consultation by asking or answering questions. Once your mentor thinks you are ready, you will be assigned to do a reverse shadow, which requires you to do the complete consultation while a senior engineer shadows and provides support. After successfully completing a few reverse shadows, you’ll be ready to do consultations on your own.

What happens after you apply?

Applications will be reviewed with special attention to technical background and previous leadership or training experience. If you advance to the interview stage, expect to have 1 to 2 interviews, all approximately one hour with your future colleagues. During the interview, we’ll walk through your background, development skills, skills related to MongoDB and dive into your professional knowledge.

A third and final interview may be scheduled with our partner, MongoDB. During this session, they will review your development experience, MongoDB experience, and ensure you have the personal skills necessary to be a consulting engineer.
