Chartwell Law is looking for an experienced Paralegal for our Workers’ Compensation practice group in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to work under pressure and a desire to learn.
Primary duties include:
- Comply with requests from insurance carriers to obtain medical records
- Drafting of discovery devices and requests including Subpoenas and Deposition Notices etc.
- Coordination of medical depositions
- Correspondence with attorney offices regarding settlement and stipulation negotiations
- Preparing documents for pleadings, discovery, motions, letter correspondence, etc.
- Organization of case files; gathering, organizing, and analyzing data
- Works closely with attorneys and in-office billing department including accounts receivable
- Set up claims, and prepare and file appropriate forms
- Draft and process legal documents and letters
- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, evaluations, appointments, and deadlines
- Responsibilities will include conducting research and analysis
Requirements:
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in workers’ compensation
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Knowledge of the PA Workers’ Compensation laws and requirements
- Ability to manage a large case load
- Strong organization skills and ability to self-manage
- Excellent client skills and telephone manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Adobe, Ardent Total Office, and Nitro PDF a plus
